In your personal
opinion, what do you understand it takes for a
person to go to Heaven?
There is a word that
can be used to answer this question: FAITH.
Each letter in the word FAITH stands for
something that will help you remember how the
Bible answers this question.
F is for
FORGIVENESS
We cannot
have eternal life and Heaven without God’s
forgiveness.
In Him [meaning Jesus] we have
redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians 1:7, NIV)
A is for
AVAILABLE
Forgiveness
is AVAILABLE FOR ALL.
For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV)
Forgiveness
is NOT AUTOMATIC.
Not everyone who says to me,
'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of
heaven. (Matthew 7:21, NIV)
I is for
IMPOSSIBLE
It is
impossible for God to allow sin into Heaven.
GOD IS – LOVE
(John 3:16)
GOD IS –
JUST
For judgment is without mercy.
(James 2:13, NKJV)
MAN IS SINFUL
For all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23,
NIV)
Question: So
how can a sinful person enter Heaven, where
God allows no sin?
T is for
TURN
Question: If
you were driving in one direction and
someone asked you go a different direction,
what would he or she be asking you to do?
(Change direction or Turn)
TURN FROM
SOMETHING – sin and self
But unless you repent, you too
will all perish. (Luke 13:3, NIV)
Repent simply
means to turn. Also,
TURN TO
SOMEONE – trust Christ only.
Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, that he was
buried, that he was raised on the third
day according to the Scriptures. (1
Corinthians 15:3-4, NIV)
If you confess with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved. (Romans 10:9, NIV)
H is for
HEAVEN
Heaven is
eternal life:
HERE
I have come that they may have
life, and have it to the full. (John
10:10, NIV)
HEREAFTER
And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come back and take you
to be with me that you also may be where
I am. (John 14:3, NIV)
HOW?
Another way
of thinking about FAITH is this:
Forsaking
All I
Trust
Him.
Understanding
what was just shared, would you like to receive
this forgiveness by trusting in Christ as your
personal Savior and LORD? If so, consider
praying the following to the LORD Jesus who so
earnestly desires that you be forgiven and have
eternal life:
Dear Jesus:
I know that I am a sinner and cannot save
myself. Thank You for dying for my sins. I
believe that You rose from the grave. So I
ask You to forgive me and be my LORD and
Savior. Help me to never be ashamed of You!
Amen.
