Engage 2010

The goal for Noonday Church in 2010 is to ENGAGE. It is our desire as a Church to see every member engaging the local community with the love of Christ. Throughout the year we will focus on a different local ministry each month.  We will provide opportunities for church members to engage by praying for these ministries, giving to these ministries and/or going to serve with these ministries.

August - Kell High School

This month our opportunity to engage our community with the love of Christ will be focused on the Kell High School Football Program and working in their Concession Stand (home games only).

PRAYING:
Every home game, we will be in contact with hundreds, if not a few thousand people. The Kell Concession Stand is a ministry that can really impact our community. Pray that each Friday night, God will work through us to show His love to people. Pray that we will be an encouragement to everyone we meet.

GIVING: If you feel led by God to support this ministry, we will use the money for two things. First, we need to purchase Noonday apparel for volunteers to wear while working the stand. Second, we will donate any remaining money to the Kell Longhorns Booster Club to help sponsor athletes that need help during the year.

GOING: Every home game, we need volunteers to man the concession stand. We would like for our LIFE Groups to take turns running the concession stand (only 4 games - not including playoffs). Ask your LIFE Group about becoming involved or sign up at the Ministry Table in the foyer for the particular night you are interested in serving. We need 8-10 volunteers for every home game. The time commitment is about 5 hours: roughly 6-11pm. Additional information is available at the Ministry Table.

June - Vacation Bible School

This month our opportunity to engage our community with the love of Christ will be focused on our Vacation Bible School. VBS is the single largest outreach to children in our community that we do all year.

PRAYING: We need lots of prayer support for VBS. You will find a prayer reminder card in your bulletin today. Take this card and place it where you will see it daily. Pray for VBS when you see the card. If you would like to pray more specifically, you may pick up a VBS prayer sheet at the table in the foyer.

GIVING: We need your donations to make snack time and craft time fun for our kids. You will find a donation board in the foyer all month long. The board is covered with tags for all the supplies we need for VBS. Simply find a few you would like to get, take the tag off and bring the item(s) back by the end of the month. In addition to the items on the board we need everyone to bring in paper towel tubes and empty water bottles and empty shoe boxes.

GOING: The most important factor for having a successful VBS is great volunteers. We need volunteers in two areas: 5 volunteers to work the registration and check in tables each morning from 8:30am to 9:30am and 40 crew leaders. You will find a description of the crew leader position on the back of this slip. You can sign up for either position by filling out a response card and dropping it in the offering plate or by coming by the VBS table in the foyer.

March - Atlanta Union Mission

In March our opportunity to engage our community with the love of Christ will be focused on helping the Atlanta Union Mission (AUM). Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ’s healing power to any person in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery. You can visit their website at:

www.atlantaunionmission.org

Throughout the month we will be providing opportunities for you to engage with this ministry by:

PRAYING: Starting on Sunday the 14th you can pick up prayer cards at the AUM information table in the foyer. The cards will have prayer requests from ladies at the Mission’s rescue shelter.

GIVING: There will be two opportunities to give to the Mission this month. First, throughout the month you can bring new or gently used Bibles to give to women at the shelter. Second the Mission’s opening a new thrift store in our area at the end of the month and we will be collecting donations for the store. An informational flyer on what to bring and where to drop it off is available at the informational table in the foyer.

GOING: We will be going to My Sister’s House (a ministry of the Atlanta Union Mission) twice this month to lead worship services for the ladies. All are welcome to come and minister. The services will be Monday, March 8th and Tuesday, March 30th. The group meets in front of the Student Center at 6:15pm, and the carpool will leave promptly at 6:30pm.

February - Noonday Baseball

In the month of February we will focus our ministry efforts on engaging our community through sports. Noonday's Baseball program engages hundreds of families in our community through t-ball and coach pitch programs. Look for opportunities on how you can pray, give and or go by visiting the table in the foyer.

January: The HOPE Center

 http://www.hopectr.com/

The HOPE Center is a crisis pregnancy center that provides abortion alternatives, education, mentoring, birthing classes, counseling and much more.  During the month we will be joining The HOPE Center by participating in their Baby Bottle Boomerang program.

Church members will be able to engage by:

Praying – Take a Baby Bottle Boomerang bottle from the display in the foyer of the sanctuary.  Use the bottle as a reminder to pray daily for The HOPE Center, its staff and its clients.

Giving – Once you have filled a bottle with coins, bills or a check, return it to the display in the foyer of the church by the end of the month.  All proceeds will go to support The HOPE Center and their programs.

Going – There are many volunteer opportunities.  For more information on how you can become involved in the ministry of The HOPE Center, call 770.924.0864.
